Ultrasound Workflow
In Ultrasound domain, measurements on images are as important as images themselves. Without measurements, it would be hard for the clinicians to make right diagnosis. In a conventional Ultrasound workflow, measurements are usually burnt as a graphics overlay onto the clinical images before archival. Having the measurement graphics burnt onto the image poses several problems to clinicians for further analysis of the images. Some of the common problems are -
Clinicians cannot figure out the linking between a measurement and the corresponding image.
The measurements can't be re-activated since measurement graphics overlay cannot be modified.
Measurement graphics overlay can obscure anatomy image data.
Measurement graphics overlay can also obscure new measurements, if any, performed at the PACS.
Role of DICOM SR
Capturing measurements details in the form of DICOM Structured Report (SR) documents and archiving DICOM SR documents to the PACS along with the clinical images helps to address the afore mentioned problems.
Capturing Measurement details in DICOM SR
DICOM provides a generic template for capturing measurements. This template can be invoked by any DICOM SR templates irrespective of the exam type. Apart from capturing measurement details like name, unit, measurement method, derivation, finding site, laterality, etc the measurement template also captures the details of the image and the coordinate information using the template for Image/Spatial Co-ordinates.

在 DICOM SR 中捕捉测量细节
DICOM 提供了捕捉测量信息的通用模板。可通过与检查类型无关的任何 DICOM SR 模板来激活该模板。除了捕捉像名称、单位、测量方法、测量方法、派生、出处、 偏重等测量细节之外,该模板还能通过影像/空间坐标模板捕捉影像和坐标信息的细节。
